Search for survivors after Houthis sink second Red Sea cargo ship in a week

Posted on July 10, 2025

Houthi rebels attacked and sank the Liberian-flagged cargo ship Eternity C in the Red Sea using rocket-propelled grenades, killing at least three crew members. Six survivors were rescued after spending over 24 hours in the water, while 19 others remain missing. This marks the second vessel sunk by the Iran-backed group within a week, following their attack on the Magic Seas cargo ship. The Houthis claimed they targeted the ship because it was heading to Israel, while the US condemned the attacks as threats to maritime security. International rescue operations continue to search for missing crew members, with maritime security firm Diaplous vowing to continue until nightfall.
