Driver held for hit-and-run death of world's 'oldest' marathon runnernnFauja Singh, an Indian-born runner nicknamed the ‘Turbaned Torpedo’ and believed to be the world’s oldest marathoner, died at 114 after a hit-and-run accident. The incident occurred as he was crossing a road in his native village near Jalandhar, Punjab, where he sustained severe head injuries. Singh was taken to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries, with his London-based running club Sikhs In The City confirming his death. Authorities have detained a driver in connection with the case. The tragedy has drawn international attention due to Singh’s remarkable athletic achievements at an advanced age.
