First Australian-made rocket crashes shortly after lift-offnnAustralia’s first domestically built orbital rocket, Eris, crashed just 14 seconds after liftoff during its maiden test flight from Bowen, Queensland. The rocket developed by Gilmour Space Technologies failed to reach orbit but successfully cleared the launchpad before crashing nearby. No injuries or environmental damage were reported despite visible smoke plumes. The company considers the partial flight a milestone, noting all engines ignited during the 23-second burn. This marked Australia’s first orbital launch attempt in over 50 years.
