Thank you, but it's too late': Why some Palestinians aren't convinced by Starmer's promisennUK Prime Minister Keir Starmer plans to recognize Palestine at the UN in September to revive the two-state solution, but Palestinians in the West Bank remain skeptical due to Israel’s ongoing settlement expansion. Recent announcements of 22 new Israeli settlements have intensified concerns about preventing Palestinian statehood. In the Christian village of Taybeh, residents described violent settler attacks that left them terrified, with one local noting international recognition won’t change daily realities under occupation. While Palestinian diplomat Husam Zomlot welcomed the move as a historic step toward justice, Israeli officials condemned it as rewarding Hamas terrorism. A Taybeh businessman captured the prevailing sentiment: ‘Thank you Britain. But it’s too late.’
